If you’re a user of MHFD’s Confluence platform we’ve got news that’ll make your maps faster and your day a little brighter!

Confluence is MHFD’s primary online data communications and management platform. MHFD Confluence is how the District shares information about our streams with our partners (including the public) and develops and manages new projects. We’ve just released Confluence V3 and it is a seamless replacement with minimal effect on our users. All functionality is the same, just better and faster.  

Its Performance you can Feel: 

• Quicker maps: 2D performance is significantly improved.
• Faster modules: PM Tools, Work Plan, search, and filters now load more quickly.
• Improved consistency: Visuals and functionality now better match other Esri-based applications. For those familiar with Esri, including most of our partners, this will feel more like the industry standard you’re use to.

Confluence has transitioned from using Mapbox and CARTO to the ArcGIS JavaScript SDK by Esri — bringing us fully into the Esri universe. This means better performance, more reliable tools, and tighter alignment with the rest of our GIS infrastructure.  

Here's what specifically has changed: 

New Basemap Setup

• Dark Street Basemap
• Light Street Basemap
• Aerial Imagery Basemap (Nearmap imagery appears at zoom level 15+)

Updated Styles for key layers:

• Effective Model Reaches
• Research & Monitoring
• Climb to Safety
• Watersheds
• DWR Dam Safety

Mobile Refresh

• We’ve redesigned the mobile experience so you can explore your projects and maps on the go, without needing a PhD in squinting.

UI Tweaks (that means User Interface for you non-developers)

• You’ll notice some subtle differences thanks to a design library update:
  • Cleaner formatting and spacing
  • New icons and hover effects
  • Updated colors and layout
• My Confluence has retired - Now you’ll find Profile and Notifications at the top-right next to the universal search. Favorite projects and personalized settings live inside your Profile.
